The TV series "House of Cards" will resume production of its sixth season early next year without lead actor Kevin Spacey, the chief content officer for Netflix said on Monday.
The final season of the political thriller will be eight episodes long and will star Robin Wright, Ted Sarandos told the audience at UBS's annual global media and communications conference.
"We are really excited that we are able to come to a good creative conclusion to the show," Sarandos said.
However, he did not say how Spacey's absence will be explained in the new season.
The US entertainment company suspended production of "House of Cards" in October after actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey, the show's lead for the first five seasons, inappropriately touched him when he was 14 years old.
Spacey has said that he owed Rapp "the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior."
