China supports summits with DPRK, says President Xi's special envoy

China supports Seoul and Washington's efforts to meet with Pyongyang's leadership, Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy Yang Jiechi told the Republic of Korea Korea's (ROK) Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha on Friday.
Yang has also expressed the hope that an "important achievement" will be made in the leadership meetings.
During the meeting, Kang said ROK wants to work closely with China, to create a "great turning point" for peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.
Yang, who arrived in Seoul on Thursday, is currently visiting the ROK on behalf of the Chinese government to discuss the situation on the peninsula.
