Russian TV host expressed dissatisfaction with western media on Wednesday saying Western journalists are working with "the bad guys."
"Journalists are heroes to me. But I see no heroes out there right now because they are working with the bad guys. They are working for powers and to protect powers," said Peter Lavelle, the host of CrossTalk on Russia’s international broadcaster RT, in his interview on CGTN's  "The Point with LIU Xin."
Lavelle believed Western media neglect basic international laws when broadcasting about international issues.
“Talking about Syria, for example, the US sends military forces and equipment and support illegally under international law. That is a gross violation of sovereignty. On the BBC, CNN, MSNBC, and FOX nobody ever mentions that,” said Lavelle.

Liu pointed out that the South China Sea issue can serve as an example of Western media's biased coverage of international issues.
"A lot of people in the West say, look, China does not want to participate in this [South China Sea] tribunal," Liu said.
Another fact is often accidentally or deliberately neglected on the media.
"In the same tribunal, in the same treaty, the US is not even a member of it [the United States has not ratified the United Nations Law of the Sea Convention]. How could it possibly criticize other partners in a legal agreement when itself is not part of the legal agreement," Lavelle questioned.

Lavelle criticized some Western reports for being detached from reality.
"It is so irresponsible of the American political elites and the media to use the ‘Russiagate’, Russia conspiracy, collusion story to mediate their own political differences at home."
He thought it would leave a wrong impression for Western audiences that Russia is isolated in the world, while it was not.
"The United States has broken such international conventions and laws so many times that strangely over the long run people start to think that it is the way it should be, when it absolutely should not be," Liu Xin said, adding that the other side of the stories, which Western audiences are not familiar with, should also be reported.
