One-China Principle: China and El Salvador establish diplomatic relations

China has established diplomatic ties with El Salvador, after the country broke off links with Taiwan. China's top diplomat Wang Yi and his Salvadoran counterpart signed a communique in Beijing on Tuesday, in which the two countries decided to recognize each other and establish diplomatic ties at the ambassadorial level. Our reporter Zhao Yunfei was there.
This morning the Beijing local time, a new ambassadorial level relationship between China and El Salvador has just established, the communique reads that the Republic of El Salvador recognizes that there is only one China in the world, that the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory.
WANG YI CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTER "By recognizing the One-China principle and establishing diplomatic ties with China without any preconditions, El Salvador is standing together with most countries in the world. Now there are 178 countries that have diplomatic ties with China. This proves that sticking to the One-China Principle is the right choice, in line with international norms, and the irreversible trend. China and El Salvador have agreed to deepen mutual trust, tap complementary advantages, and cooperate in various fields."
