DPRK and ROK mark anniversary of the end of the Korean War

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea (ROK) mark the 64th anniversary of the end of the Korean War with events and celebrations in Pyongyang and Seoul.
There had been widespread speculation in the US and ROK intelligence circles that the DPRK might choose to mark the anniversary with a fresh launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, following its first successful test earlier this month. But as of late Thursday, no such launch had materialized.
July 27, 1953 marks the signing of the armistice between China, DPRK and US-backed United Nations forces that had fought each other to a stalemate over three years.
