Cold Snap: China on blue snowstorm alert

Bracing for a cold Qingming holiday week. Beijing has issued a blue alert for snow. The weather has caused travel disruptions with bus services suspended and flights delayed. And the cold front is expected to continue to chill most parts of China this week. Areas will see strong winds and temperatures drop up to 20 degrees celsius.
Parts of northwest China will also see sandstorms, strong wind will blow sand and dust to parts of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Gansu province. The extreme weather will remain until Saturday. Authorities have urged people to take precautions regarding roads, railways, electricity, and telecommunications.
