National Basketball Association: Derrick Rose signs with Timberwolves for rest of season
[]
We bounce along to the NBA, where Derrick Rose is on the move again. The former MVP, is being reunited with his old coach Tom Thibodeau, as the guard has signed on with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the rest of the year. The pair previously partnered in Chicago, as they helped the squad become Eastern Conference powers, before injuries derailed Rose's career. The former number one overall pick struggled this year in Cleveland averaging 9.8 points per game in 16 appearances. He was then dealt to Utah, before the Jazz released him allowing him to become a free agent and sign with any team.
In other games, Ben Simmons and Philly travelled to face the Miami Heat.
And the hosts go on a 12-2 run to open up a 10-point lead in the second Q thanks to Goran Dragic's triple.
Then South Beach tries to pound it down low, as Hassan Whiteside goes to work underneath -- keeping the hosts in fron by double digits.
The visitors cut the gap to 1 after recess, but get a little bit of breathing room, as Whiteside goes hard to the rack, as he is fouled in the process. He had 26.
The 76ers keep it close, as Marco Bellinelli hits the trey in transition. Five-point game.
And then a little razzle-dazzle, as Dario Saric finds Ben Simmons over the top of the alley-oop -- but the Sixers trail 99-90.
Philly tries to close the gap, Joel Embiid misses the triple, and the rebound eventually is corralled by the Heat, who are off to the races, and that leads to the Dwyane Wade dunk -- Miami wins it 108-99. Derrick Rose's new team would fall 117-109 to the Boston Celtics, that victory clinching a playoff spot for the Beantowners. Allan Crabbe had 29 points as Brooklyn tops Charlotte. OKC had an easy time with Phoenix, winning by 28. Golden State held off San Antonio thanks to 37 points from Kevin Durant.
