The seventh China-Japan ruling party talks aimed at improving ties kicked off on Monday in Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province.
Senior members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Japan's ruling coalition, formed by the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its junior partner the Komeito party are attending the meeting on the subject of committing to peace, friendship and cooperation to bring benefits to the peoples from both sides.
Song Tao, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Toshihiro Nikai, Secretary General of the LDP, and Yoshihisa Inoue, Secretary General of the Komeito addressed the gathering.
During the special economic meeting after the opening ceremony, delegates discussed how to enhance cooperation under Belt and Road Initiative.
In the following two days, the two sides will also hold meetings on political and cultural exchange issues.
The CPC, LDP and Komeito have jointly been holding the talks since 2006.
