Swedish furniture giant and lifestyle company IKEA has launched a new pet production range for furry members of the family.
The IKEA’s first ever new pet collection LURVIG, meaning ‘hairy’ in Swedish, is currently available in five markets including Japan, France, Canada, USA, Algarve and Portugal, a company spokesperson announced on Tuesday.
Created by "animal-loving designer" with support from trained vets, IKEA says the new collection includes basic items from toys and leashes to pet beds and elevated cat house.
In accord with the furniture brand's trademark Swedish efficiency, a lot of the pet furniture can be incorporated into current IKEA products. For example, a cat’s bed can be piled up as a bedside table or shelf.
At the end of the period, the budget home furnishing retailer had 403 stores in 49 markets. According to franchiser Inter IKEA, 22 new IKEA stores are planned for the 2018 fiscal year, including new markets in India and Latvia. The Inter IKEA said in the Long term, it will "continue to explore new ways to meet customers in existing and potential new markets with a focus on South East Asia and South America."
