‍Artificial intelligence (AI) technology enables computers to hear, see and think.
The development of voice and video recognition technology, together with the maturing of self-learning functions, has allowed AI to become so smart that it is involved in every aspect of our lives, from virtual personal assistants to visual search engines and cashier-free supermarkets.
Image recognition, or computer vision, refers to the ability of computers to acquire process and analyze visual data of photos and videos.
Google and Amazon already offer a service that lets you post a picture of the specific product you want into their search engine and it will give you web links for the product.
AI has not only changed the ways we shop and our entertainment industry but it is also changing the retail industry in many ways, and the cashier-free shops launched by JD.com is one of them. At these stores, you don’t have to wait in line to make payments, instead payments can be made automatically with facial recognition.
