Also in England, Liverpool have been charged by UEFA after a number of fans threw objects at the Manchester City team bus on its arrival into Anfield before yesterday's Champions League quarter-final first leg encounter. Although no one from the visiting side was hurt, Merseyside police confirmed two of its officers were injured while dealing with the trouble.
This video was found on the Citizen's assistant coach Manuel Estiarte's instagram. Unlike usual match days at Anfield, both team buses took an alternative route due to local building work and while the police published the new travel plans, they insisted this is not to blame for Wednesday's events. Local authorities thought making it public would prevent supporters rushing en mass when it became clear the coaches were travelling a different way. Pep Guardiola has since said he doesn't understand the attack but also made it clear he knows its not within the spirit of the majority of the club's fans with Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp apologizing to Manchester City. The case will be dealt with by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on May 31.
