By Monday morning, Typhoon Damrey killed 44 people and left 19 others missing in Vietnam, according to the country’s Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.
The authority also said 1,358 houses had collapsed and more than 30,000 people have been evacuated.
Damrey made landfall on Saturday, bringing strong storms to central Da Nang city where the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' meeting will be held on November 6-11.
