Syria Conflict: Turkey's Erdogan says Afrin city center under 'total' control

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirms its allies in Syria have taken full control of the center of Afrin city. Our correspondent Michal Bardavid has this report from Istanbul.
MICHAL BARDAVID ISTANBUL "Erdogan stated that Turkey would first clear the area of terrorists and then take steps to rebuild the infrastructure and make it livable for civilians to return as soon as possible. Videos published early on Sunday had showed Turkey backed Free Syrian Army fighters entering the town of Afrin. There have been conflicting reports regarding Turkey's Afrin offensive in the past few days – Kurdish officials claimed Turkish airstrikes had hit a hospital killing civilians. However, Turkey insists they are being extra sensitive not to hit civilians and rejected claims that a hospital had been hit. Turkey published a photo following the accusation stating the hospital was in fact still standing. Meanwhile thousands of locals have been fleeing the city. The UN has delivered aid to refugees trying to escape the fighting. Earlier reports showed YPG militants preventing civilians from leaving. The fighting is expected to get more intense as the battle moves towards the city center. Michal Bardavid, CGTN, Istanbul."
