Chinese President Xi Jinping has welcomed DPRK top leader Kim Jong Un in Beijing. After talks, the two leaders agreed to jointly push forward the momentum of peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula. China says it's also glad to see that the DPRK has decided to turn its priorities toward economic development. CGTN's Wang Tongxuan has more.
It's Kim Jong Un's third trip to China since March and this time, the Singapore Summit and economic cooperation are high on agenda.
Beijing hopes that what's been agreed upon in Singapore will be fully implemented. It's an important step for the political resolution for the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue.
Kim agreed the meeting with Trump had a positive outcome. He said if the two sides can firmly implement the consensus reached at the summit, it will create a new situation for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
And calling China a great and friendly neighbor, he thanked China for its important role in promoting the denuclearization of the peninsula.
Pyongyang will implement the consensus reached between the two countries, and promote relations between the two sides to a new level.
Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed the frequent visits by Kim Jong Un this year, saying bilateral relations have entered a new chapter. He said China will remain committed to strengthening their solid relationship and maintaining their friendship with the DPRK.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of China's opening up. President Xi said China is very glad to see the DPRK shifting its goal to economic growth.
