IOC upholds Russia ban for closing ceremony

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Sunday voted unanimously to uphold the ban on Russian athletes for the PyeongChang Winter Games over mass doping.

The athletes will not be allowed to march under the Russian flag at the closing ceremony, nor will medals earned during the Games count towards Russia’s total.

Russia’s case was compromised after two athletes tested positive for doping during the PyeongChang Olympics.
