The climax of the film industry's awards season is just around the corner, as the world's biggest stars get ready to walk the red carpet of the 90th Academy Awards on Sunday evening. It is not only the stars and the Oscar statuettes that will shine at the event, but also the tables for the annual Governors Ball after the awards ceremony.
Chef Wolfgang Puck has unveiled the menu for his 24th post-Academy Awards feast on Thursday. One of the most eye-catching dishes at this year’s event is the caviar parfait dusted with 24-carat gold. A total of 13.6 kilo of edible gold dust was prepared for the dish, and the dish will be served to 1,500 guests of A-listers and Oscar winners.

The caramel passionfruit lollipops are made into the shape of miniature Oscar statuettes, and homemade Pimm’s and Kumquat chocolate bonbons are also among the unusual dishes.
Meanwhile, 300 pounds of Miyazaki Wagyu beef will be sliced, 1,500 quail eggs cracked and some 1,400 champagne corks popped as preparations are underway for the feast.
According to the chef, diners will be treated to more than 50 dishes, including small-plate entrees such as mini pea and carrot ravioli with black truffle, and cocktail-inspired macarons like negroni and mojito.

The event will require a staff of more than 1,000 to prepare food, serve 800 stone crab claws and pour more than 10,900 glasses of wine from director Francis Ford Coppola’s winery.
“We are really all of us excited, and I really think for us it’s always very special,” Puck said.
The 68-year-old Austrian-born chef, who also included vegan and gluten-free fare such as spinach campanelle and tiny taro tacos, approached the event with his trademark enthusiasm, cracking a raspberry dessert with a spoon while declaring sweets his “most important thing.”

“As long as the Oscars is not tired of me, I’m not tired of Oscar,” Puck said with a grin.
The 90th Academy Awards will kick off on Sunday at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, with films including “The Shape of Water,” “Call Me by Your Name,” “Darkest Hour,” “Dunkirk” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” among the nominations for the Best Picture award.
