China, Djibouti to deepen cooperation in various fields

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday, and the two leaders vowed to deepen the cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Premier Li said President Xi Jinping has held talks with the Djibouti president on Thursday and the two leaders have announced the establishment of a strategic partnership between China and Djibouti to strengthen all-around cooperation, adding that closer relations will benefit the people of both sides. 
Premier Li also appreciated the efforts President Guelleh has made in boosting bilateral ties and believed his trip to China will inject new momentum to the development of China-Djibouti ties.

Guelleh said he was very pleased to be the first head of state of an African country to visit China since the 19th CPC National Congress. 
He said this year marks the 38th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Djibouti since 1979, and Djibouti is willing to cooperate with China under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and work with China to deepen cooperation in economy, free trade zones, infrastructure construction, technology and agriculture. 
Premier Li and President Guelleh also exchanged ideas on major international and regional issues. The two sides agreed to enhance political trust based on mutual respect, equality, and respect of each other’s core interests and work together to maintain peace and stability in Africa.
