This week, China and the US held major economic and trade talks. Representatives from the world’s two largest economies sat down for the first China-US Comprehensive Economic Dialogue in Washington DC, where they discussed ways to move forward with their economic relationship.
Meanwhile, US President Trump has been making news on a whole range of issues including criticism of his Attorney General Jeff Sessions during an interview with The New York Times. And on Friday, Trump lost a key member of his staff with the resignation of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.
CGTN's The Heat talked to  Xu Qinduo, a political analyst with China Radio International.
Was the China-US comprehensive economic dialogue a success?
Xu thinks there is a lack of substantial progress in this first round of dialogue. The two sides reached agreement on the resumption of beef import from the US, as well as rice and LNG, but only touched upon long-term and also strategic areas in terms of the bilateral trade relationship.
However, Xu said he is sure that there will be some concessions, or some agreements between the two countries at a time.
