South Korea's presidential Blue House says US troops will continue to be stationed in the country, even if a peace treaty is signed to formally end the Korean War. Meanwhile, President Moon Jae-in has asked the United Nations to help verify the DPRK's planned shutdown of its nuclear test site.
A Blue House spokesperson said Moon raised the request during a phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday. The Secretary-General said it would need Security Council approval, but he wants to help the peace-building process on the Korean Peninsula. Pyongyang said it would dismantle the test site to show its commitment to denuclearization.
