China Medical Tourism: Sector booms in Hainan pilot zone

Medical tourism is on the upswing in southern China's Hainan Province. Officials with the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and a number of global medical institutions met the press on Tuesday to promote China's medical tourism sector.
A representative for CiMing Bo'ao International Hospital said the facility aims to provide high-quality medical services to people living in China and abroad. Another representative for Global Fertility and Genetics said his facility will open an IVF center in Bo'ao. Bo'ao's Lecheng is China's first and only pilot zone for international medical tourism. The site in Hainan Province was approved in 2013 and aims to build a cluster of international hospitals and health-care centers. President Xi Jinping inspected the pilot zone during the recently concluded Bo'ao Forum for Asia, calling for more attention to China's health care environment.
