It's been a year of rapid change and breakthroughs for China. But how have ordinary people across the nation reacted to these advancements?
CGTN launched an online survey on China's largest social messaging app, Wechat, asking viewers what they thought were the top 10 major events of the year, and the following are the results.

Over 85 percent chose the 19th CPC National Congress as the most important news item for 2017.
Meanwhile, about two-thirds voted for the Belt and Road Forum held in Beijing this summer.
With the gathering of the world's top two first families at the Forbidden City in November, US President Donald Trump's visit to China grabbed third place, capturing about 60 percent of the online vote.
It was followed by the controversial child abuse scandal at the RYB kindergarten in Beijing which ranked fourth, and the launch of the Xiongan New Area took fifth place.

Also on the list were the launch of China's domestically-built aircraft carrier and the maiden flight of the C919 passenger jet, China's record-breaking quantum satellite.
Besides the technological breakthroughs this year, there were new troubles faced by the sharing economy. And last but not least was the fluctuation in housing prices.
There were also many people who felt sad their picks didn't make the final list. Some believe that the grand military parade at the Zhurihe training base in northern China's Inner Mongolia should have been included.
While some people thought the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai was more important to their 2017.
