Korean Peninsula Diplomacy: IOC President Thomas Bach visits Pyongyang
[]
The International Olympic Committee's President Thomas Bach is now in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The IOC announced this on Thursday. Bach arrived in Pyongyang on Thursday and will leave on Saturday, as part of a seven-member delegation. The visit is in reponse to an invitation from the DPRK's National Olympic Committee. The invitation was extended in January in Lausanne, Switzerland. There, IOC and DPRK officials had met to discuss the DPRK's participation in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, staged in February in South Korea.
