Ahead of US President Donald Trump's visit to China, both countries are examining opportunities to increase bilateral trade. CGTN spoke to Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam to talk about the potential for future cooperation between China and the United States.
"It is obviously a great market I mean. The facts are the facts, and I think most people that have a product they want to sell can't help but look at that market and say yes or not a community for us to do business there, so I think that's one of just good business to look at the market that is China," said Haslam.
He also pointed out that if you want to gain a world-wide market, China is a great opportunity.
In 2016, Haslam has led a delegation to China. "We have several companies that from there that already invest in Tennessee. We're looking to attract several others and then I've been to China two to three times. And every time I go, I come to a better understanding of the market and what's happening there, both the challenges and the opportunities that China presents to anyone who wants to expand their work."
For Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to China, he suggested Trump spend as much time as he can understanding China. “When you think about the world situation, you'd better have a good grasp of what China is."
When talking about the Korean Peninsula issue he added, "When we look at our relation as a country, you have to take everything into account. Obviously, one of the more severe challenges, not just facing the US, but facing Asia and the rest of the world, is what does... what happened out of North Korea (DPRK). Can we get what feels like a big challenge to everybody? Can we come out a solution that works?"
