Israel has launched air strikes at Syrian air defenses and Iranian targets in Syria after Syria claimed to have shot down an Israeli F-16 fighter jet. This marks the most serious confrontation yet between Israel and Iranian-backed troops. Israel said its jet was sent to strike Iranian drone installations in Syria after Israel shot down one of those drones over its territory earlier. However, the military alliance supporting the Syrian government has denied their drones entered Israeli territory.
