China’s Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) has opened a legal case against Xiang Junbo, former chairman of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC), who is suspected of taking bribes.
Xiang has been placed under "coercive measures," and a further investigation is underway, according to an SPP statement on Friday.
Coercive measures may include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest.
