Photos of two left-behind kids traveling under the bus with mud on clothes have gone viral on social media. It turns out the reason why they risked their lives for three hours, over 90 km, is that they wanted to meet their parents who are working in a nearby remote city and could not afford the tickets. This tearful scene was captured by a bus driver in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region last week. /Weibo Photo
According to Beijing Youth Daily, the two kids were found at Xilin County, 90 km from their home. The bus station staff carefully assisted two boys getting off the bus as soon as they found them and the local police contacted the boys’ school to take them back to home immediately. /Weibo Photo
A teacher from two boys’ school confirmed they skipped school that day. /Weibo Photo
This is a national issue. There are more than 60 million children in China’s rural areas who are left with relatives, according to a report released by All China Women's Federation in 2013. /Weibo Photo
