Politburo: Safeguarding CPC Central Committee authority 'the supreme political principle'

Safeguarding the authority of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and its unified and centralized leadership is "the supreme political principle and the fundamental political rule for the whole Party," according to an official statement released Tuesday.
The statement was issued after a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, which was presided over by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting stated that the CPC leadership is the fundamental feature of Socialism with Chinese characteristics. It represents the common will and fundamental interests of the whole Party and people of all ethnic groups in China.
The meeting called on all Party members to uphold the CPC Central Committee authority, which is to think and act consistently with the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi at its core.
It also stressed that 2018 is the first year to implement the essence of the 19th CPC National Congress, also the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up, hence a vital year for China to finish building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
