China has become a hot spot for VR thanks to two years of explosive domestic growth. In today's episode of our tech frontier series, we look at how China is roaring ahead of most countries in the development and application of the technology.
Today, VR showrooms have turned from a mere concept to a practical technology that helps real estate developers save time and cost for maximum return.
XU QINGQING HOME BUYER "It's absolutely real. I have to say that it's much better than I thought. In my expectation, I could only see some rough images like pictures. But I was surprised by what I saw. After putting on the glasses, I found that the world was so real. Besides, it is easy to operate. It's exactly like I was checking the real house. Every corner of the house is clear and vivid. The experience was wonderful."
Conductor VR started to expand its business to VR real estate in 2014.
ZENG ZIYUAN, CEO CONDUCTORVR "I found that VR house check is most likely to create cash flow and gain profit. So, I had an initial plan: developing a product that can be used as a tool for marketing."
The 2017 CCTV Spring Festival Gala innovatively adopted VR live streaming technology. LETINVR was responsible for making the VR live streaming content for the Gala.Currently, VR video content is mainly presented through smart phone headsets. However, with VR content becoming richer and more diversified, the performance of smart phones began to hinder the improvement of the quality of VR images. Sun Wenbo, CEO of LETINVR believes the situation will improve considerably in two-to-three years, which will also greatly accelerate the production of VR content.
SUN WENBO, CEO LETINVR "Currently, limited by the definition of smart phone screens and the bandwidth of the internet, VR is unable to create an excellent C-end user experience. However, in the next 2 to 3 years, with the application of gigabit internet connection and the development of 5G, the infrastructure will be greatly improved. By then, users can watch high-quality VR video with low cost. We will also provide VR live streaming of sports events, concerts, news and educational programs, so as to enable all users to enjoy VR content after having their bandwidth and devices upgraded."
The massive application of hardware technologies and the popularity of VR games, will also lead to the booming development of display headsets that enable users to have a quality, immersive experience. It is expected that the market value of display headsets will exceed 16.2 billion RMB in 2019.
