Chinese President Xi Jinping, also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended New Year greetings to all Chinese compatriots and people around the world on Sunday.
Since Xi was elected as president, he has given a New Year speech for five consecutive years. Among the most frequently used words is "reform," which has been mentioned 28 times. "Hard work" appears 13 times and "poverty alleviation" 10 times.
