Beijing recently began the construction of an automated vertical parking building for public buses, the first of its kind in the country, aimed to improve the operation efficiency of such vehicles and relieve traffic pressure.
The building, in Fengtai District, southern Beijing, will consist of four stories to park public buses and two underground spaces for private cars.
The construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. Equipped with 20 charging piles, the building is capable of housing 169 pure electric public buses and 84 vehicles.
Being constructed jointly by Beijing Public Transport Group and Shougang Group, the facility has a floor area of 14,800 square meters.
