Russia has lost a vote over its call for a joint inquiry to be held into the poisoning of a former Russian double agent.
Russia lost by a vote of 15 to 6, with 17 abstentions. This was at an emergency meeting of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons at The Hague on Wednesday. Russia wants to counter accusations by Britain that it was behind the March 4th nerve agent poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury, England.
Before the meeting, Britain called Russia's request for the meeting "perverse". The chemical weapons watchdog says it sent an expert team to England on March 21st to collect samples for testing. The results of those tests are set to be announced next week.
