The bodies of eight missing people were pulled Saturday from the rubble of a collapsed apartment building in southern Italy, Reuters reported citing firefighting sources.
Digging through the debris ended on Saturday morning after around 80 firefighters searched for the eight missing residents throughout the night, using mechanical equipment and bare hands.
The four-story block of apartments, located in the town of Torre Annunziata near the city of Naples, collapsed at 6:20 a.m. local time (0820 GMT) on Friday while residents were asleep.
The building was reportedly built in the 1960s.
The cause of the incident remains unknown, although authorities said renovation work might have been behind the collapse.
