As a signature event of this year's forum, the Conference of Chinese and African Entrepreneurs opened doors to over 2000 business representatives from both sides on Tuesday. Their discussions focused on three major areas: Industrial cooperation, trade partnership and infrastructure construction. Michelle van den berge has the details.
The 6th Conference of Chinese and African Entrepreneurs attracted more than two-thousand guests from China and 53 African countries. The meeting is seen as an important platform to expand exchange and cooperation between business communities of China and Africa. Talks this year zoomed in on further collaboration on industrialization, trade, infrastructure as well as how to maximize the effect of cooperation by making full use of their resources.
This year's forum came as the China-Africa relationship ushers into a new era with business circles from both sides seeking new cooperation opportunities. China has been Africa's largest trading partner for 9 consecutive years. Total trade value between the two sides recorded a 17-fold growth since 2000. This fast growth continued into the first half of this year with the number jumping 16 percent year-on-year to 100 billion dollars.
