Ri Yong Ho, foreign minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), is set to land in Sweden on Thursday for a two-day visit in the country, said Swedish Foreign Ministry in a statement on Thursday.
On the same day, Chinese foreign ministry has also confirmed that Ri was transiting through the Chinese capital Beijing on his way to Sweden.
Ri is scheduled to hold talks with Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Margot Wallstrom.
The two foreign ministers will discuss Sweden's diplomatic representation of the US, Canada and Australia, which lack diplomatic presence in the DPRK, and the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, according to Sweden's foreign ministry.
The visit comes amid the preparation for the meeting between US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un
