Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi in Beijing on Friday.
Suu Kyi is in the Chinese capital to attend the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting.
"We understand each other, support each other, and coordinate with each other on issues of each other's core interests and major concerns," Xi said.
The further development of the friendly relations between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the National League for Democracy (NLD) helps to consolidate the political foundation of China-Myanmar relations and enhance the friendship between the two peoples, Xi noted.
Xi proposed that the CPC and the Chinese government will, as always, pursue friendly policies with Myanmar. "We will strengthen the political leadership of bilateral relations and make new contributions to the comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership between China and Myanmar," Xi added.
Aung San Suu Kyi expressed appreciation to China for inviting Myanmar to attend the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting. She said that China-Myanmar relations are of special significance to Myanmar.
"We have a long history of friendly friendship and close cooperation with mutual trust and mutual respect in recent years," said Suu Kyi.
Xi also proposed actively building an economic corridor with Myanmar to enhance trade investments and explore new cooperation areas.
The NLD admired China's remarkable developmental achievements under the leadership of the CPC, Suu Kyi added, saying "We hope to further deepen the exchange of experience in governing the country." She also echoed Xi saying friendly ties between Myanmar and China as neighbors were of great importance.
