The total scale continues to increase, maintaining China’s position as the world’s largest manufacturer, and the largest scale of the network in the world.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has urged the related ministries and enterprises to make Internet connectivity faster and more affordable for various occasions, as he said that this is an era of the Internet, which not only changes people’s lifestyles, but also affects China’s economic transformation and upgrading. Answering a CGTN reporter's question about the ministry’s future plans in terms of reducing telecommunication fees and speeding up the country's Internet network, Miao said, "in the past couple of years, the Chinese consumers of 4G network have increased from zero to 930 million, making up more than 67 percent of the entire cellphone users in China. In the fixed broadband market, we have realized the coverage of optical network in all urban areas – ranking first in the world. These measures have remarkably helped the development of bike-sharing, mobile payments and takeout deliveries. We will take further measures that follow the people's renewed expectations and a new tide of digital economy.”
“The Ministry will carry out Xi Jinping's idea of treating people as the center, to speed up the process of increasing Internet speed and reducing fees, and help the development of China's digital economy to benefit consumers,” Miao Wei added.
