Chinese lovers of Kumamon, a popular bear mascot from Japan, can now have an extra dose of the adorable figure at the country’s first Kumamon-themed café, which has just opened its doors in Shanghai.

The two-floor “Kuma café” predictably is a Kumamon heaven, with stuffed bears in various sizes everywhere and cute stickers adorning the walls.

The café is expected to offer customers light meals made with ingredients from Kumamoto Prefecture, sell imported produce from there and, of course, Kumamon items.

Kumamon made its first appearance in March 2010 as the mascot for Kumamoto Prefecture in the Kyushu region, Japan. With its chubby body, distinctive red cheeks and clumsy gestures, the figure soon took over the world, winning the hearts of a diverse range of people from children to adults.
