At least 17 people are dead after an ex-student opened fire at a Florida high school on Wednesday, with several others wounded in the incident, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel confirmed at a news briefing.
Israel said 12 students among the dead were shot in the building, two shot outside, one found dead on the road near the school and two died after being transferred to the hospital.
The suspect was identified as Nikolas Cruz, a 19-year-old expelled student from the school, according to the sheriff. He was arrested shortly after the shooting.
