Senegalese are fond of sports. However, due to a lack of available funding, there are few public gyms or exercise parks.

In 2016, thanks to support from the Ambassador Fund, several Chinese companies teamed up to build a fitness park in Dakar. With more than 400 different machines, it attracts large numbers of people.

China has also invested in Senegalese culture. The Grand National Theatre was the first initiative by Chinese construction companies after the countries resumed diplomatic ties in 2005. It's hosted many high-profile galas and exhibitions. And is regarded as a bridge connecting Chinese and Senegalese culture.
