Police in Beijing's Chaoyang District said in a statement on Tuesday that, after an investigation, no evidence was found of any child sexual abuse in RYB Education New World Kindergarten.
The police checked the 113-hour-long recovered surveillance footage, and didn’t find any evidence of anyone committing child sexual abuse. The surveillance equipment was previously damaged by a 45-year-old inventory keeper because she thought it was too noisy, so she always cut off the power after school.
The statement acknowledged that a 22-year-old teacher, surnamed Liu, had pricked children with needles to make them sleep at noon. She is now under criminal detention.
According to the statement, two people, surnamed Liu and Li, made up the story that children in that kindergarten were sexually abused. Liu has been detained for fabricating misleading information, and Li has been criticized by police.
One of the parents, surnamed Guo, who accused the school of feeding children unidentified pills has admitted that his kid wasn’t drugged in the kindergarten. The video was taken at home.
Another parent, surnamed Zhao, also admitted that the accusation of the school checking children’s body while naked was faked, and she is willing to apologize publicly.
The investigation is still underway.
