At the same time, South Korea and the United States begin their annual joint military exercises today, after a month's delay for the Winter Olympics. The two nations say Operation Foal Eagle will be similar in scale to previous years, but with fewer strategic weapons involved, and a greater focus on defense. The time frame has been cut from two months last year to 4 weeks. This means the drill will be over by the time US President Donald Trump meets with DPRK leader Kim Jong Un. Pyongyang has remained quiet on the military drills so far. The computer-simulated Key Resolve drill will be held for two weeks, starting in mid-April.
