"Every Treasure Tells a Story". That's the name of an ambitious cultural exploration TV program that touched the hearts of audiences around the world with its first run earlier this year. The second season of the hit series is set to LAUNCH on China Central Television's documentary channel later this month.
According to a press conference held over the weekend, the second season of "Every Treasure Tells a Story" will debut on CCTV-9 on July 23rd.
This latest season of the show consists of 25 episodes in which 25 national treasures from antiquity will come "alive" to meet the audience. The cultural relics come from a wide range of historical periods, from the Warring States era to the Qin and Han Dynasties, with the earliest dating back to the 5th century BC.
XU HUAN, DIRECTOR "EVERY TREASURE TELLS A STORY" "We're going to enter a new era in this season of the show. The Warring States Period, and especially the Qin and Han Dynasties, were periods in Chinese history marked by great creativity. They contributed a lot to the Chinese civilization. This time, we've selected a greater diversity of historic relics. Compared to the first season, we paid more attention to video indexing."
The director hopes to present the artifacts through a range of artistic methods and put forward a thorough interpretation of the stories and history behind each piece.
She added that an audio version of the program will be made available for those who prefer to listen to the treasures' stories while on the go.
The documentary series is jointly produced by CCTV and the State Cultural Relics Bureau, with more than 50 museums across the country including the National Museum, all taking part. The English version of the show's first season has been aired on CGTN. SW CGTN.
