Around 64,000 people are expected to be evacuated after heavy rain lashed Huaihua city, central China's Hunan Province, reported Xinhua news agency citing local authorities on Friday.
The heavy rain led to a sharp rise of water level in many rivers in the region and several reservoirs have been opened to discharge the flood water.
The city activated level-II emergency response to the flood at 1:00 a.m. Friday morning and organized early evacuation of residents from multiple areas.
A total of 64,000 people from four affected areas will be transferred to safe places.
