High temperatures continues to scorch parts of China

A blazing heat wave continues to scorch parts of China, with temperatures soaring to unbearable levels over 3.65 million square kilometers across 21 provinces (cities and districts).
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, as well as Shaanxi and Hebei Provinces will hit around 40 degrees Celsius in the coming days, according to the National Meteorological Center of China Meteorological Administration.
High temperatures have led to drought to Shaanxi Province, severely affecting corn crops.
The scorching heat also makes home appliances like air conditioners a necessity, and AC sales volumes in Inner Mongolia have quadrupled.
However, life still goes on for many. In northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps continued to conduct field manoeuvre training despite mercury levels hitting a record high.
