US President Donald Trump on Friday said he has decided to extend his Asia visit and spend an extra day in the Philippines where the annual East Asia Summit takes place.

Trump made the announcement at the White House before leaving on his five-nation Asia tour, which was earlier reported would last 12 days.

"We're actually staying an extra day in the Philippines. We have a big conference, the second conference, and I think we're going to have great success," Trump told reporters.
