Chinese President Xi Jinping, also the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Central Committee, called on more efforts to deepen reform.
Xi made the call at the first meeting of the central committee for deepening overall reform.
The committee was transformed from the original central leading group for deepening overall reform in the massive CPC and state institution reform.
Earlier this month, China held its annual national parliament meeting in Beijing. The top legislature, the National People's Congress (NPC), approved a comprehensive re-structural plan involving dozens of Party and government institutions.
Transforming the central leading group for deepening overall reform to the central committee for deepening overall reform is part of the re-structure plan of the CPC Central Committee institutions.
Xi said the re-structure has started and the reform will harm vested interests and face more challenges.
He urged the Party members to carry on with the institutional reform and uphold the CPC's leadership in the reform.
Xi, as the director of the committee, presided over the meeting. Deputy directors Li Keqiang, Wang Huning and Han Zheng also attended the meeting.
