Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Kuwait City on Sunday evening. He is on a two-day trip to ease the diplomatic tensions surrounding Qatar.
The Turkish leader later held talks with Kuwait’s emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, who has been mediating the dispute. Erdogan earlier discussed with the king of Saudi Arabia “efforts to combat terrorism and its sources of funding.” He is scheduled to visit Qatar to conclude the diplomatic tour.
Four Arab nations cut ties and imposed sanctions on Qatar last month. They demanded Doha to close down a Turkish base, curb relations with Iran and shutter the Al Jazeera TV channel.
