We dive over to the second stop in the diving world series. China picking up all 10 medals on offer last week in Beijing, and would get off to a great start on the latest stop in Japan, thanks to a pair of teens, as the 14-year-old duo of Zhang Minjie and Zhang Jiaqi would claim victory in the synchronized 10-metre platform for the second week in a row.
The young Chinese ladies scored 368.22 points in the Chinese capital and win another gold earning 335.70 points in Japan. The DPRK's Kim Kuk Hyang and Kim Mi Rae edge Malaysia's Pandelela Rinong and Jun Hoong Cheung by just a single point to take silver.
In the men's 10m Synchro Platform, reigning world champions China's Chen Aisen and Yang Hao lead from the opening dive, and score an overall total of 449.91 to take gold. The duo overcoming injuries, as Chen was bothered by an arm problem, while Yang had a leg issue. That didn't stop them from scoring a high of 89.64 points in their fourth dive.
Over to the Women's 3m Synchro Springboard, China's Chang Yani, and Shi Tingmao, the world champions lead after four dives, and take the title by scoring 319.80. Australia pair Georgia Sheehan and Esther Qin take silver while Canadians Melissa Citrini Beaulieu and Jennifer Abel claim bronze.
In the men's 3m Synchro Springboard, Cao Yuan and Xie Siyi of China would score enough points to beat Russia's Evgenii Kuznetsov and Ilia Zakharov, and claim the gold with a score of 433.02 points, despite a less than stellar attempt in their second dive. Ken Terauchi and Sho Sakai of Japan claim bronze.
