[]
Pro-government fighters in Syria are expected to enter the Kurdish region of Afrin after talks with local forces. Syrian state television reports troops will arrive within a few hours to support the region in its fight against Turkish forces. Afrin, which borders Turkey, is held by the Kurdish People's Protection Units and has faced a month-long assault by Ankara and Islamist insurgents.
