Dutch telecom company KPN has teamed up with Tencent, owner of the WeChat messaging service, to launch a WeChat Go SIM card for Chinese tourists visiting Europe, the operator announced on Wednesday.
The WeChat Go SIM card offers call and 4G data services, as well as additional features helpful for Chinese travelers in European Union countries, such as providing travel information and social media, according to KPN.

The recommended sale price in Europe is either 12 euros for a 1GB card that is valid for 15 days, or 33.50 euros for a 4GB card valid 28 days, said KPN.
The card will be available from July on China's e-commerce platforms. It will also go on sale at Chinese airports as well as popular travel hubs across Europe.
"This is for the convenience of the Chinese customers, who can buy it and then put it in their cellphones and use WeChat Go without having to worry about which operator they have to connect to," said KPN spokesman Stefan Simons.
Last year, 294,000 Chinese tourists visited the Netherlands. That number is expected to hit 325,000 this year and 420,000 in 2020, according to the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions.
